*What a deal eh? This past March, radio talk show host Jim Rohn came up with a dandy idea. He had a show, "Toast of Weld County," that aired every Sunday on the new Pirate 104.7 radio station in Northern Colorado. "Roni," he said, "I have an idea. I'd like to rename my show `Good Neighbor News'. And OH! Why don't you come down and host it with me?" It was about the loosest deal ever; three minutes with station owner Brett Reese, two seconds learning "the board," handshakes all around and YE HAW! This old woman was on the air! Chuck Tucker, my first guest, surely thought I was an ill-bred woman, for never once did my eyes leave the board to look at him. Hosting himself, listeners reported he did a terrific job asking and answering his own questions about the dairy business. There was mite improvement with Randy Bangert, for he seemed OK with my strange attachment with the board. Probably he watches Boston Legal. Then along came my third guest, Colorado's State Veterinarian Dr. John Maulsby. Although John came equipped to talk about Animal ID, we never went there. A cure for my Sunday only, high-fevered, cotton mouthed, Hoof and Mouth disease took priority. This past Sunday, "Mary," a well-mannered twelve year, calmly debunked Al Gore's global warming theory, and steadied me in the process. This Sunday, Warren Hammerbeck is our guest. Who's Warren Hammerbeck? I don't know. We'll find out together when you tune in Sunday. After all, he shook my hand, and said "I'll be there." What a deal eh? |
