AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008
GOOD NEIGHBOR

"Agriculture (cropdusting) and Energy (Christmas Tree) working together, developing our nations vast resources."

We are very happy to accept the town of La Salle, Colorado's nomination of "Ensign United State Drilling" as Good Neighbor for the month of August. Ensign is building their main headquarters for all of Northern Colorado, in the tiny town of La Salle.

They are already proving out great employers while bringing an economic boost for La Salle.

In visiting directly with some of Ensign’s neighbors, we’ve further learned Ensign has, at their own expense, hauled and leveled out all their extra top soil into surrounding areas that have been mosquito problematic for years.

We have reason to believe that most energy exploration companies handle their neighbors in this manner, which in addition to supplying America with essential domestic resources they bring jobs and have a positive impact on community economics and affairs!

Following is their nomination from the town of La Salle. We agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Harvey (City Manager and Chief of Police), and thank him for taking the effort to nominate Ensign.

We agree Ensign is a perfect example of the many corporations who are Good Neighbors!

I would like to nominate Ensign United State Drilling as a good neighbor. The Town of LaSalle has been dealing with this company for the past year on a new regional/training center on WCR 394. Prior to its approval, the company contacted all of its adjoining land owners on the companies intentions and has worked very closely with them during the building stage to assure that they would put their "best foot forward" as a good neighbor. With the Town, they have been very receptive to the needs of the municipality and have dealt with any concerns immediately. Since the approval of the site, Ensign has donated to our recreation department and additionally donated monies for mosquito control. Ensign is drilling the wells for Mineral Resources across the road on WCR 394. This week the noise of the drilling rig was such that they did in fact put on a large muffle system so it would not bother the neighbors any more than possible. The Town is very fortune to have this company in our municipality. I would hope that Ensign would be given consideration as a good neighbor.

Respectfully,
Carl Harvey

JULY 2008
GOOD NEIGHBOR

We are proud to announce Jim Rohn as the Good Neighbor for the month of July. Why? Many reasons. First and foremost, Jim exemplifies all that defines a Good Neighbor. He's thoughtful to everyone, very funny, and works hard volunteering on many fronts including politics..

Jim is fearless when it comes to addressing problems. He seeks out information from all parties involved, then makes his decision.

Jim owns “J.R. Antiques” in Ault, CO where he’s surrounded by interesting artifacts; not the usual junk one sees in many antique stores. Jim started “Toast of Weld County,” a weekly talk radio show on Pirate 104.7 FM. Later he enlisted Roni Bell to co-host, as he takes his antique show on the road. He renamed his show, Good Neighbor News, which we thought was a generous gift to all of us.'

JIM ROHN

What we like best about Jim, is that while he can be serious, his quick wit makes you laugh out loud and feel pretty darn good about nearly everything. The following little retort about “Barbie” tractor, is a perfect example of Jim’s humor and brilliance.

We are so honored to have him on our Good Neighbor Team.
Congratulations Jim! You’re terrific!

Subject: Department of Agrarian Affairs - Abuse report

Hello,
We are writing you today because we have reports of various abuses to your agriculture equipment. This report has been filed by several sources and state that the tractor, named Barbie, has been abused multiple times over the last few months.
We are only a moderating panel and will be collecting evidence to this alleged abuse by you or family members. We currently have 3 reports of abuse. One piece of evidence is an email originated by you bragging about how you have tormented Barbie. If we find out that these abuses are real and justified then we will step up further action.
Please be notified, if you are found guilty of abusing farm equipment (so not PC) you could loose custody of said equipment and or their siblings and offspring. You might also be fined up to $1 million and put in the Okey Dokey Pokey for a few years. Please remember, at this point this is only an investigation. Any attempts to cover up the abuse (such as welding on the steering wheel) will be looked upon as guilt.

Sincerely,
Joe Bob Right

JUNE 2008
GOOD NEIGHBOR

Mary Streed, June’s Good Neighbor, is an easy choice!

Mary Streed came to Good Neighbor in its mere beginning and stated firmly, “I’m here to help!”

At the first Good Neighbor Forum - February 2007, panic struck!

Mary had worked hard with Ken Keil to get all 250 + attendees registered, packets put together, name tags carefully hand written and lists articulately laid out.

MARY STREED

At the first Good Neighbor Forum - February 2007, panic struck!

Mary had worked hard with Ken Keil to get all 250 + attendees registered, packets put together, name tags carefully hand written and lists articulately laid out.

Being one organized lady, Mary had all the registration materials neatly packed in her truck, ready to take to the forum…a two hour drive from her Parker home.

Then, the last wave of the notorious string of Colorado blizzards struck!

The snow began in the wee hours of the forum morning, and before long Mary’s home, driveway and the “ready-to-go” truck were completely drifted in.

Phones calls and stand in registration plans were made while Mary busied herself “digging out.”

Arriving breathless about mid-way into the morning’s registrations, Mary just put on a big smile, rolled up her sleeves, and cleaned up the big mess we’d made.

Ben Franklin would of loved Mary. For not un-like Ben, she stays in a constant learning mode while always trying to improve herself as a human being.

It wouldn’t surprise anyone, if it was found out she had a former life as the only female member Ben’s group called the Junto.

Mary has kept up a rich, varied life. Starting out as an Iowa farm girl, she went on to doing “a lot of A.I.’ng,“ worked about twenty years as a helicopter mechanic, went back to college getting degrees in Physical Therapy and Journalism, and bought her first two impregnated cows (Calved both out this spring.) all while raising and training Arabian horses.
She’s earned the nick-name “Tex,” for when this little gal witnesses a wrong doing, she’s right there quick draw with the pen to “write the wrong!”

If ever you’re in a crowd and a ruckus breaks out, and you hear Kimmi Lewis say, “Well now hold on Tex,” just know

Mary’s there…ready to give a bad guy a boot out the door.

She doesn’t have much use for rude, crude, lying pickle-pusses.

You can be in the dourest, ugliest mood, and two minutes with Mary and you’re laughing out loud un-controllably.

When you become a Good Neighbor member, this industrious, cheerful little volunteer, is the one who gets your membership packet to you.

We are very lucky to have a lady of her talent, humor and work ethic associated with Good Neighbor.

We’re a “better neighbor” because of Mary.

Congratulations Mary!

Thank you for all the fun and hard work you give us!

We’re honored to call you our “June Good Neighbor!”

MAY 2008
GOOD NEIGHBOR

Senator Inhofe is the first elected official we've selected as a Good Neighbor of the month.

Because of his countless stands for upholding the private property and constitutional rights of American Citizens, he exemplifies what being a Good Neighbor is all about.

Thank you and Congratulations Senator Inhofe! We are very proud of you!

To learn more about this man of courage, please go to: http://inhofe.senate.gov/public/

Inhofe Excerpt: "Despite this gloomy EIA analysis, proponents of Lieberman-Warner are still claiming the bill will not impose economic harm to America. Only in Washington could higher energy prices be characterized as not negatively impacting the U.S. economy. If Democrats have their way, Americans will pay significantly more at the pump, in their homes, and in many cases, with their jobs, all to accomplish an undetectable impact on the climate.

"The question now is which U.S. Senator will dare to stand on the Senate Floor a month from now to vote in favor of significantly increasing the price of gas at the pump?"

MARCH 2008
GOOD NEIGHBOR

Kimmi is a cow-calf producer from Kim, Colorado. She resides and manages a working ranch in the Purgatory Canyonlands in rural Southeast Colorado, where she was raised.

She is the past President of the Southern Colorado Livestock Association and Kim School Community Association, Secretary of the Colorado Independent CattleGrowers Association and the National Chairwoman of the R-CALF USA Property Rights Committee.

September 2007, Kimmi held a Good Neighbor Forum in La Junta, CO. She serves on the Good Neighbor, Inc. Board of Directors.

Ever the lady, Kimmi can rope and ride with the best of them. Hard telling how many bulls she's castrated, calves she's vaccinated, and foals she's helped deliver.

Kimmi knows how to run a meeting getting issues out on the table. And as a parlimentarian, moves things along swiftly and correctly.

KIMMI CLARK LEWIS

She and her family continue to work passionately against the US Army's quest to turn Pinon Canyon into a Maneuver Site Expansion. This action - if consumated by the Army, could take her and her neighbors ranches by eminent domain, and swallow up the entire southeast corner of Colorado. We must help prevent that exceptionally valuable culture, antiquities, and agriculture production from being taken.

With her late husband, Dave Lewis, who passed away from leukemia in 2000, she raised six children. The young widow marched on making certain all six children graduated from college. Daughter Kerry Lewis, is also on the Good Neighbor, Inc. Board of Directors.

Kimmi remarried in July 2004, and with her husband Marty, continues to fight land grabs, run a cow calf operation,
maintain a garden, and fervidly stand up for private property rights.

Kimmi Clark Lewis, is one young lady who serves as a tremendous example of goodness and courage to all of us.
Thank you Kimmi, for all you do for so many!

CONGRATULATIONS - and - HAPPY 51st BIRTHDAY!!!

Rodeo announcers take flight

By Johnna Espinoza/ProRodeo.com

The experiences changed their lives. Two already patriotic men gained new appreciation for the U.S. Armed Forces after spending time with military personnel last month in Nevada.

Texas rodeo announcers Bob Tallman and Boyd Polhamus were taken on special aircraft flights from Nellis Air Force Base, located in northeast Las Vegas prior to the 49th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

“When you see a service man or woman, it will make you want to salute them, hug them and thank them for dedicating their lives,” Tallman said.

Tallman and Polhamus were in Las Vegas to announce the Wrangler NFR Dec. 6-15.

MR. BOYD POLHAMUS

The announcers were flown over the Nevada desert and given a firsthand look at members of the military in action.

“I have an immense respect for the men and women of the United States Armed Forces,” said Polhamus about his emotions as he walked to the aircraft lined with military personnel to greet him. “I had this feeling of ‘I’m not worthy. I’m not worthy to wear this flight suit and to climb into this aircraft the way these guys do every day.’”

Polhamus went on a one-hour F-16 flight on Dec. 5 arranged by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Nellis Air Force Base officials and Boyd Gaming.

ProRodeo Hall of Famer Tallman took about a two-hour ride in a HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter on Dec. 4, a flight that was also arranged by the U.S. Air Force, Nellis Air Force Base officials and Boyd Gaming.

Prior to going on the flights, the rodeo announcers submitted written information about themselves, went through health screenings and pre-flight training.

Due to previous rodeo injuries to his back, Tallman was not cleared to ride in an F-16. Tallman was not disappointed, though. In fact, it turned out he was well-suited for the helicopter, whose pilot inverted the aircraft. The ride also featured various desert maneuvers and ‘war game’ demonstrations.

“I went as a mission gunner and shot all the bullets (at a target) that they gave me,” Tallman said. “I went six (g-forces), upside down, tipping it over, running the mission gun, going 120 miles per hour. It changed my life. I couldn’t get enough of it.”

Polhamus also had a good time. He pulled nine “Gs” and got a good rating from the pilot for not getting sick or fainting.

One of the most memorable moments for Polhamus was speeding in the F-16 through a valley and feeling like the canyon walls were so close to him he could touch them.

At one point, the g-force was so intense Polhamus had to fight to keep his eyelids open.

However, Polhamus handled it all and got a pin, along with praise from the pilot.

“I was so ecstatic, I screamed. ‘I didn’t pass out,’” he said.

Later that same day, it was announced that Polhamus had been voted the PRCA Announcer of the Year at the PRCA Awards Banquet held at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa.

“I thought, I’ll have to live a long, long time to have another day like this,” Polhamus said.
