Subject: UPDATE: 4/17/08 - - HB 1007 Stupid Slab/aka Toll Road

16 April 2008 - Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee passed HB 1007 by a 3-2 vote. The state website says it was passed with amendments. I haven't seen the amendments, but will post soon at www.stupidslab.com .

Voting yes were Senators Tapia (the committee chairman and sponsor of the bill), Cadman and Romer. Voting no were Senators Windells and Schultheis.

Please thank Senators Windells and Schultheis, and remind Tapia, Cadman and Romer who they’re supposed to represent.
The bill will go to the senate floor for 2nd and 3rd readings, next week or tomorrow, where the bill could be amended further. If the bill passes with amendments, it must go back to the house for approval of senate amendments. If the senate amendments are accepted, I believe the bill goes to the governor’s desk. I am unsure of the process if the house rejects the senate amendments….it gets complicated with other committees to work to blend house/senate versions of the bill.
